About Us

Our Mission

The Clinton County Regional Planning Commission strives to be an agent of regional cooperation, taking the lead to ensure that Clinton County’s future is well-planned. Serving Clinton County for more than 50 years, the 20-member Commission is the most diverse in the County and is charged with the area's “physical, social and economic development.”

History

In 1970, the Clinton County Commissioners, together with the City of Wilmington and the seven villages in the county, created the Clinton County Regional Planning Commission (CCPRC) to develop a comprehensive plan for the County. Since then, the role of the CCRPC has grown to include:

  • Preparing and promoting plans and studies on regional goals and objectives; economic and social conditions; land use and open space; transportation, utility, and communications systems; conservation of natural resources and the environment; and long-range capital projects and facilities.
  • Providing planning assistance to other units of local government and coordinating planning activities in the region.
  • Reviewing proposed and amended comprehensive land use, open space, transportation, and public facilities plans and projects, and making recommendations to achieve compatibility in the region.

Our Areas of Focus

Physical

Physical

Physical

In addition to being the lead agency on land use and physical growth in Clinton County, the CCRPC oversees the Clinton County Subdivision Regulations, the site plan review process, and provides recommendations on zoning matters. In addition, the CCRPC is committed to improving local parks and trails, public spaces, natural resources, pedestrian safety, and housing.

Economic

Physical

Physical

We understand that a resilient economy relies on local food, local talent, and support for local businesses. CCRPC supports the economic development efforts of organizations such as the Clinton County Port Authority, the Clinton County Land Bank, and the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce.

Social

Physical

Social

We work to generate attachment to place by partnering with Energize Clinton County, Main Street Wilmington, our local history center, supporting a Fellows program for college students, and combating social isolation among older adults through our Age-Friendly Clinton County initiative.
